antiX

antiX deliberately avoids systemd (using the older SysVinit/runit-style init instead) and defaults to lightweight window managers like IceWM rather than a full desktop environment, keeping RAM and CPU usage low enough to genuinely revive 15-plus-year-old laptops and desktops. It's a co-founding project (alongside the former MEPIS community) behind MX Linux, sharing some tooling and philosophy, but antiX pushes further toward minimalism and is available in Full, Base, and Core (no X server at all) editions depending on how little the target hardware can handle. It includes its own live-USB persistence and remastering tools, popular among users who like to build a fully customized live system from the antiX base.
