rsend

rsend is an open-source Android application for sending selected folders from a phone to one or more home SSH hosts. It is designed for one-way transfers, moving phone data outward rather than synchronizing changes back to the device. Typical source folders include DCIM, WhatsApp media, call recordings, and other locations selected by the user.

The app uses rsync over SSH to transfer files, with both the rsync program and SSH transport built from source and included in the APK. Transfers are incremental, so already transferred content does not need to be sent again, and large videos can resume from a private partial directory. Each folder can be assigned to a named remote, allowing different folders to use different destination hosts. A folder can use either an additive backup policy or a mirror policy that applies deletion behavior to the destination.

rsend can operate periodically or on demand, and it uses an unmetered network by default. Authentication supports Ed25519 client keys, while strict pinned host-key verification checks the expected SSH host. The app requires all-files access because backup locations such as OEM call-recording directories may be outside standard, limited-access media folders.
