Word by Word Game: Adventure

Word by Word Game: Adventure is an open-source word game for Linux in the education category. It combines word practice with an RPG-like runner in which the player controls a hot air balloon. During each level, the player enters unique words based on the last three letters of the previous word and tries to travel as far as possible.

The game checks words in both Russian and English dictionaries. If a word is not included, it can be added to the dictionary. Two people can play together on the same device, making the word activity suitable for shared sessions. Random weather changes each session and can affect the balloon’s progress, including collisions with trees or periods of drifting above a mountain.

Progress is saved when the game is paused through the central menu button, allowing the current session to be continued later. The word-entry format gives players an opportunity to encounter and learn new words while playing. The project is in active development, so its current feature set may change as work continues.

MirrorNest provides the Linux build by mirroring the official version directly on its own storage. The mirrored file is scanned for malware before publication, giving Linux users a catalog-based way to obtain the release.
