LXLE tracks only Ubuntu's LTS releases, prioritizing long-term stability, and pairs that base with LXDE, one of the lightest full desktop environments available, plus a custom set of themes and a curated application selection aimed at low-resource machines. Its stated mission leans explicitly toward sustainability: reducing e-waste by making genuinely old PCs (including many pre-installed with Windows XP or Vista-era hardware) usable again rather than discarded. It ships more visual polish and default theming than some other lightweight distros in this category, aiming to make an old machine feel deliberately designed rather than merely stripped down.
