Acerca de

Centipede (Portable) is a Windows game based on the classic Atari-style Centipede gameplay. It is intended for players who want a compact arcade experience centered on movement, shooting, and avoiding descending enemies. The playfield contains centipedes, mushrooms, poison mushrooms, spiders, scorpions, and fleas, each affecting play in a different way.

Centipedes move horizontally across the playfield and shift vertically when they meet an edge or mushroom. Shooting a segment turns it into a mushroom, and splitting a centipede causes the segment behind the shot to become a new head, creating additional centipedes. Regular mushrooms block movement and require four shots to destroy, while poison mushrooms make a centipede travel straight downward after contact.

Spiders move quickly through the lower part of the screen, scorpions cross the upper area and change mushrooms into poison mushrooms, and fleas occasionally fall while leaving mushrooms behind. The player moves with the arrow keys and fires with Ctrl, with mouse play also available from the startup page. Points are awarded for enemies and centipede parts, including 10 points for body segments, 100 for heads, 300 for spiders, 200 for fleas, and 1,000 for scorpions, with an extra life awarded at 12,000 points.

The product is listed for Windows, placing it in the platform’s downloadable arcade game category. MirrorNest links directly to the official release instead of hosting a mirrored copy, while the license is listed as unknown. This distribution arrangement gives users a catalog entry that points to the original release location for Centipede (Portable).
