SEPAND - Farsi Font Downloader for DOS

SEPAND - Farsi Font Downloader for DOS is a freeware Windows package for using a historical MS-DOS resident program with EPSON-compatible printers. The program downloads Farsi character sets to printers that follow the EPSON ESC/P2 standard. It was originally called SAHER and was developed by Vahid Alimardani as a personal project while learning x86 assembly language. The package presents this older software through a launcher that runs it in DOSBox-X.

The launcher automatically mounts the user’s current directory as drive C: and the SEPAND installation as drive D:. It then loads the terminate-and-stay-resident program with its intended parameters. SEPAND uses both SHIFT keys as a hotkey for switching between Farsi and English, and it supports the IranSystem character encoding. Its TSR design allows the program to remain resident while using 37KB of conventional memory.

To start the program, the user runs sepand from any directory. Pressing both SHIFT keys at the same time opens the configuration menu. This arrangement gives the package a defined way to access the DOS program without requiring the user to configure its drive mappings manually. It also keeps the printer and character-set functions tied to the original DOS environment.
