Grav CMS

Grav is a fast, flat-file CMS that needs no database — it can be installed from a downloadable ZIP, via Composer, or by cloning its GitHub repository directly.

  1. 1Check PHP version

    php -v

    Grav requires PHP 7.3.6 or newer.

  2. 2Get Grav (Composer method)

    composer create-project getgrav/grav ~/webroot/grav

  3. 3Get Grav (Git clone method, alternative)

    cd ~/webroot
    git clone -b master https://github.com/getgrav/grav.git
    cd grav
    composer install --no-dev -o
    bin/grav install

  4. 4Point your web server at the folder

    Configure Apache, Nginx or IIS to serve the extracted/cloned grav directory using the sample configs Grav ships with.

  5. 5First load

    Load the site in a browser to let Grav pre-compile its cache, then create your admin user if you installed the Admin plugin.
