Joplin Server
The self-hosted sync backend for the Joplin notes app, letting you keep your end-to-end-encrypted notes syncing across devices without relying on a third-party cloud.
1Get the sample environment file
Copy the project's .env-sample to your Docker config directory and rename it .env, then edit values like APP_BASE_URL.
2Test it with a plain docker run
docker run --env-file .env -p 22300:22300 joplin/server:latestThis default setup uses SQLite; for real use, configure DB_CLIENT=pg and PostgreSQL connection variables in .env instead.
3Production setup with Docker Compose
Use the project's docker-compose.server.yml (which wires up Joplin Server together with a PostgreSQL database) as your compose file.
docker compose -f docker-compose.server.yml up -d4Log in and lock down the admin account
Joplin Server starts with an admin user at admin@localhost / admin — change this password immediately, and create a separate non-admin user for actual note syncing.
