Cosmic Comics

Cosmic Comics is an open-source comic, manga, and ebook reader for Linux. It provides a user-friendly way to browse a collection organized around series and books. The application is listed in the education category and can support reading, organizing, and reviewing digital publications.

It can open comic archives in CBR, CBZ, CB7, ZIP, RAR, 7z, and TAR formats, along with PDF and EPUB documents. It can also read folders containing PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, and other image files. Collections can use covers fetched or extracted through available sources, or covers entered manually. Reading status can be set to Read, Unread, or Reading, while books can also be added to Favorites and rated. Cosmic Comics records reading position so a book can be continued from where it was last left off.

The viewer includes zoom, automatic background color, double-page display, blank first-page handling, and an option to avoid double-page mode for horizontal images. Manga Mode, Webtoon Mode, fullscreen viewing, rotation, bookmarks, slideshows, a sidebar, a hidden menu bar, and a magnifier provide additional ways to view pages. Guided Reading Mode uses a local AI model, and detailed metadata can be shown for comics, manga, and ebooks. Metadata may come from Google Books, AniList, Metron, Open Library, the Marvel API, or manual entry, although the listed Marvel API has shut down.

Cosmic Comics also provides downloaders for Marvel Unlimited, MangaDex, DC Infinite, Viz, and GetComics, and some of these services may require subscriptions and credentials. MirrorNest mirrors the official Linux build directly on its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing. This distribution gives Linux users an open-source education-category application through a download catalog while keeping the available package tied to the official build.
