À propos
Mercurygram is an open-source client for the Telegram messaging platform on Android. It is listed in the Internet & Browsers category and is intended for people who want to use Telegram through a free and open-source application. The app supports conversations with individual contacts, group chats, and sharing different kinds of content. Messages and conversations are stored in Telegram’s cloud rather than only on the Android device.
The FOSS version removes several proprietary components from the original Telegram client. These include Google Play Services for location services, HockeySDK for self-updates, and Google Cloud Messaging for push notifications. Location sharing is restored through OpenStreetMap. Creating a new account is no longer possible in this version, so users must create an account through the official Telegram build and then log in to Mercurygram.
Mercurygram is focused on mobile use because it runs on Android, while Telegram also has desktop and web clients. Its open-source build approach means the application tracks a fork that builds the included components from source instead of using the binary blobs found in the official app’s source. As a result, releases may become available later than the official versions. The Telegram service itself remains a non-free network because its servers use proprietary software.
MirrorNest distributes Mercurygram by mirroring the official build directly onto its own storage. Before publication, the mirrored file is scanned for malware. This gives Android users a catalog-based way to obtain the build while preserving the original distribution relationship. The listing therefore combines an open-source Android client with a third-party download mirror and Telegram’s proprietary server infrastructure.
Nécessite Android 7.0+
