À propos

moonlight is an open-source application for Linux in the Video & Media Players category. It combines streamed video, audio playback, and input handling in a single platform-specific package. It is intended for Linux users who need to view streamed content while interacting with games or remote desktop sessions.

The application supports hardware-accelerated video decoding through VAAPI, VDPAU, and NVDEC. It can decode H.264, HEVC, and AV1 video streams. Audio output supports 7.1 surround sound. These capabilities allow the software to handle supported video and audio formats while making use of compatible Linux graphics hardware.

moonlight accepts several forms of interactive input. It supports 10-point multitouch input and gamepads with force feedback for as many as 16 players. Pointer capture is available for games, while direct mouse control is available for remote desktop use. System-wide keyboard shortcuts, including Alt+Tab, can also be passed to the host.

Its open-source license is part of the product’s stated distribution model and does not change when the application is obtained through MirrorNest. MirrorNest stores the official build directly on its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing it. This places moonlight within a Linux-focused catalog while preserving its official build, open-source licensing, and Video & Media Players classification.
