TimeLimit.io

TimeLimit.io is an open-source Android application in the System Tools category. It organizes apps into categories so usage controls can be applied to one app or a group of apps. The product is designed for devices where access to apps needs to be governed by schedules and usage limits.

For each category, users can define the times when its apps are allowed to run, which can prevent access during selected periods such as late hours. It also supports rules that limit total usage for a single day or across multiple days, including combinations of per-day and overall limits. A user can grant extra time for an occasional extension or temporarily disable all time limits for a chosen period.

TimeLimit.io supports multiple profiles on a device, with separate settings and time counters for each profile. Profiles can be designated as parents or children: parents have no restrictions and can select another profile as the current user, while children can select only themselves. This makes the app suitable for shared devices such as tablets where different people require different controls.

A user can be assigned to multiple devices, allowing usage durations and permission changes to be handled across those devices rather than separately on each one. Depending on configuration, the setup can allow only one device at a time or multiple devices simultaneously, though simultaneous use can exceed available time when devices lose their connection. Settings can be viewed and changed from any linked device, with the connection optionally using the user's own server. Some connected features cost 1 € per month or 10 € per year in Germany when a personal server is not used. MirrorNest mirrors the official Android build directly to its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing, providing distribution of the build without changing its open-source license.
