Deepin

Deepin is developed primarily by Wuhan Deepin Technology in China and built around DDE (Deepin Desktop Environment), a Qt-based desktop the project writes and maintains itself rather than customizing GNOME or KDE -- giving it a distinct look with rounded corners, blur effects, and a dock similar to MacOS's. It ships its own suite of first-party applications (Deepin Terminal, Deepin Music, Deepin Movie, an app store called Deepin App Store) styled to match the rest of the desktop. Its Debian base means broad software compatibility, and DDE itself has been repackaged for other distributions (including a UbuntuDDE community remix) precisely because of its polish. Users outside China should note the project's origin when evaluating its default telemetry and bundled services, though the desktop environment and OS itself are open source.
