SoundTree Recorder

SoundTree Recorder is an open-source Android application for recording and organizing personal audio. It focuses on keeping recordings together with bookmarks that identify moments worth returning to. It records high-quality M4A audio and displays a live waveform while recording. A recording can be paused and resumed without creating a separate file. Recording can also be saved from the notification while the screen is locked. Marks can be added during recording or playback to flag specific points for later review.

Recordings can be placed in a hierarchical topic tree with nesting to any depth. This structure allows related material to be grouped under progressively more specific topics. SoundTree Recorder can automatically back up recordings to an external drive or USB device.

All data stays on the device, with no accounts, cloud storage, tracking, or network permission. The app also supports audio passthrough to earphones for monitoring audio inputs.
