Windows 10 Home's mainstream support ended on October 14, 2025, meaning Microsoft no longer ships security patches, bug fixes, or technical support for it by default -- a genuinely important fact for anyone still running it, since an unpatched, internet-connected OS is a real security liability. Microsoft did open a consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) enrollment option for the first time on a Home edition, letting individual users keep receiving critical security patches for one additional year through October 2026 (previously ESU was Enterprise/Volume-Licensing-only). Anyone on Windows 10 Home today should treat upgrading to Windows 11 (where the hardware supports it) or replacing the hardware as the priority, not indefinitely staying on ESU.
