Audacity

Audacity is an open-source audio application available for Linux. It lets users cut, copy, splice, and mix sounds, and it can change the speed or pitch of a recording. In MirrorNest, it appears under the Video & Media Players category and is also listed in the Linux audio category.

The program supports WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP2, MP3, and Ogg Vorbis audio files. It can convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs. Audacity also provides a wide range of effects for audio recordings. Its interface is translated into many languages.

The Linux package includes OpenVINO AI plugins for music separation, noise suppression, music generation and continuation, transcription, and super resolution. These plugins run only on Intel hardware, including Intel CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs. Using Intel GPU or NPU acceleration requires the user to belong to the render Unix group. The included model management command is sudo audacity.fetch-models, while Intel NPU support also requires the intel-npu-driver package and connected NPU libraries.
