Blue Recorder

Blue Recorder is an open-source desktop recorder for Linux systems. It records audio and video and is intended for users who need a straightforward way to capture activity from a Linux desktop. The application is written in Rust and uses GTK+ 4, GStreamer, and ffmpeg.

It supports recording on almost all Linux interfaces, including both Wayland and Xorg. Recordings can be saved in MKV, AVI, MP4, WMV, GIF, and NUT formats. Users can select the audio input source from the available list before recording.

The interface allows users to change default settings, and Blue Recorder saves those choices for use the next time it is opened. A recording can be stopped by right-clicking the application icon and selecting Stop Record. On interfaces that support the required behavior, middle-clicking the recording icon in the notification area also stops the recording.

Blue Recorder is listed in the Video & Media Players category for the Linux platform. MirrorNest stores the official build directly on its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing it. The program requires audio-record and screencast-legacy to be connected for proper operation, and its source is available at the Blue Recorder project repository.
