Linthra

Linthra is an open-source music player for Android. It is designed for people who keep music on their own devices or use self-hosted music servers. As a Video & Media Players entry, it focuses on playing and organizing music rather than providing a catalog or hosting service.

For local playback, users select a folder through Android’s Storage Access Framework, after which Linthra can scan and present Songs, Albums, and Artists with search. It can also connect to Jellyfin and Navidrome/Subsonic servers, test the connection, sign in with the user’s account, synchronize, and play music over HTTPS. Tracks can be downloaded for offline playback through a size-limited cache, with a Keep offline option for selected items. The app includes a queue, playlists, favourites, and smart mixes built from signals on the device.

Linthra supports background playback with media notification, lock-screen, Bluetooth, and wired-headset controls, along with shuffle, repeat, and synced lyrics. It can provide browsing through Android Auto and cast to a Chromecast, speaker, or TV using a pure-Dart Cast implementation that does not require Google Play Services. The app has no ads, tracking, analytics, crash-reporting, or telemetry SDK, and it does not require an account of its own. When connecting to a server, the password is used to obtain a session token, then discarded, while the encrypted token is not logged.

Linthra is an unofficial community client and is not affiliated with Jellyfin, Navidrome, or Subsonic. It is still in early alpha, so it is intended for testing on a real device rather than treated as production-stable software. MirrorNest stores the official build directly on its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing. The open-source license is the GNU Affero General Public License version 3.0 or later, allowing the source to be read, built, and contributed to by others.
