Pi Coding Agent

Pi Coding Agent is an open-source developer tool for Linux. It is a terminal-based coding agent intended for development work carried out in Linux command-line environments. Its design provides useful defaults for getting started while keeping the main focus on adapting the tool to a user’s workflow.

Customization is organized around TypeScript Extensions, Skills, Prompt Templates, and Themes. TypeScript Extensions can extend the agent’s harness, while Skills provide a way to define reusable capabilities. Prompt Templates allow users to tailor recurring instructions, and Themes adjust the tool’s presentation.

Pi deliberately does not include sub agents or plan mode as built-in features. When those behaviors are needed, users can ask Pi to build the desired functionality or install a third-party Pi package that supports their workflow. This approach keeps customization centered on extensions and related components rather than requiring changes to Pi’s internal code.
