Core 18 base snap

Core 18 base snap provides a runtime environment based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, also known as Bionic Beaver, for snap packages that use it. It includes libraries and dependencies shared by many applications, giving those snaps a consistent execution environment on Linux.

Snapd installs it automatically when a snap package requires it, and only one Core 18 base snap is installed at a time. Manually removing it may affect system stability.

Snap developers select this base by adding base: core18 to their snapcraft.yaml file. Published by Canonical for Linux, Core 18 base snap supports amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, ppc64el, and s390x architectures.
