MiniZinc

MiniZinc is an open-source constraint modeling language for Linux. It is designed for describing constraint satisfaction and optimization problems without tying the model to one particular solver. This makes it suitable for learners, educators, and other users working with formal problem-solving models in an educational setting.

Models can be written at a high level using a library of predefined constraints. The language separates the problem description from the solver used to process it. This allows the same modeling approach to be used with a range of supported solvers.

After a model is created, MiniZinc compiles it into FlatZinc. FlatZinc is a solver input language understood by a wide range of solvers. This compilation step connects the readable model with the solver-specific processing needed to examine solutions or optimization results.

MiniZinc is listed in the Education category for the Linux platform. It is developed at Monash University in collaboration with Data61 Decision Sciences and the University of Melbourne. MirrorNest distributes the official Linux build directly from its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing it.
