wxdatefrom

wxdatefrom is an open-source application for Linux, listed in the Communication category. It lets a user set a name and a date, then check how much time has passed since that date. The application does not submit information online.

The application opens in Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, or Portuguese when the system uses one of those languages. If the system uses another language, wxdatefrom displays a notice that a translation is unavailable and opens in English. It also reports when its background image cannot be found, while continuing to operate. A background image can be supplied by placing a file named background.jpg in the home/snap/wxdatefrom/current directory.

After the name and date are entered, clicking the button displays a notification with the elapsed period in days, hours, and minutes. The notification explains whether the person or event was encountered that long ago or whether that amount of time has passed. wxWidgets manages the counter, with wxTimeSpan handling long time values and dates that may be far from the present. The selected name and date are saved when the program exits.

MirrorNest mirrors the official wxdatefrom build directly onto its own storage. The mirrored file is scanned for malware before it is published in the catalog. This makes the MirrorNest entry a distribution of the official Linux build rather than a separate version of the application.
