Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop is a first-class Fedora edition (promoted from a community 'Spin' to an official Edition in 2023), giving KDE Plasma users the same rapid, close-to-upstream package cadence GNOME users get with Fedora Workstation. It carries over Fedora's technical choices -- Wayland by default, PipeWire, Btrfs -- onto Plasma's more traditional, highly configurable desktop metaphor, appealing to users who want current KDE releases without Kubuntu's Ubuntu base or openSUSE's YaST-centric tooling. As with Workstation, no proprietary codecs ship out of the box, and RPM Fusion is the standard way to add them.
