RSPlayer

RSPlayer is an open-source music player for Linux that focuses on high-quality playback of local music libraries. It belongs to the Music & Audio category and is intended for listeners who keep music files on a computer or compatible home server. The player supports FLAC, WAV, ALAC, DSD in DSF and DFF forms, MP3, AAC, Ogg, and other formats.

Its library scanner is designed for fast indexing and provides rich metadata, album art, and lyrics. RSPlayer can send audio through direct ALSA access for bit-perfect exclusive output to USB DACs, including DSD playback. PipeWire and PulseAudio are also available for everyday listening.

The application supports internet radio and streaming metadata, along with media keys and MPRIS integration. Its multiroom feature can group RSPlayer instances on a local network for synchronized playback. The desktop application uses the same engine as the headless RSPlayer server, which can run on a Raspberry Pi, NAS, or home server and be controlled from any browser.

MirrorNest mirrors the official Linux build directly on its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing. For bit-perfect direct ALSA output to a USB DAC, users can connect the ALSA interface with sudo snap connect rsplayer:alsa. Music libraries stored on external or removable drives under locations such as /media or /mnt can be enabled with sudo snap connect rsplayer:removable-media. The snap sandbox does not provide mounting network shares from inside the application or system power actions.
