AV Linux is maintained by a single developer (Glen MacArthur) with an unusually hands-on, hand-tuned approach: rather than shipping a generic low-latency kernel and calling it done, each release is personally tested and configured around specific audio interfaces, JACK audio routing, and real-time performance tweaks that matter for recording and live audio/video work. It draws on tooling and a Debian base shared with the MX Linux project, and its curated software set covers digital audio workstations, video editing, and related production tools similar in spirit to Ubuntu Studio but with a notably more artisanal, closely-tested release process from its solo maintainer. It's particularly well regarded among independent musicians producing audio on Linux specifically for how reliably its real-time audio configuration works out of the box.
