Salix OS positions itself as 'Slackware, simplified': it remains 100% compatible with Slackware's native package format (so any Slackware package installs cleanly on Salix), while layering on its own Slapt-get tooling for automatic dependency resolution -- something bare Slackware famously leaves entirely to the user. Its default install philosophy favors exactly one well-chosen application per common task rather than several overlapping options, keeping the system lean and avoiding the bloat of installing multiple text editors or media players nobody asked for. Its flagship edition uses Xfce, with official KDE Plasma, MATE, and LXDE editions available for users who want a different desktop on the same simplified-Slackware base.

MirrorNest doesn't mirror distro ISOs — installation media should always come straight from the project's own official download page (linked above), so you get the correct checksum/signature to verify against.
