OpenMediaVault

  1. 1Download the installer ISO

  2. 2Write it to a USB drive and boot from it

    Follow the Debian-based text installer -- disk, network, and admin account setup.

    sudo dd if=openmediavault_*.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=1M status=progress conv=fsync

  3. 3Open the web UI

    http://<the-server's-ip>

    Default login is admin / openmediavault on first boot -- change it immediately under General Settings.

  4. 4Create a filesystem and shared folder

    Under Storage > File Systems, mount your data disk, then create a Shared Folder on it before exposing it via the SMB/NFS services.
