Mojave is a genuine practical ceiling for a real slice of still-functioning hardware: several 2012-era iMacs and Mac Pros have graphics hardware that doesn't meet the Metal-API requirement Catalina introduced, making Mojave the newest MacOS those specific machines can actually run. It was also the first version with system-wide Dark Mode. Its Mac App Store listing remains a real, currently working official download.
