Windows 11 Pro for Workstations exists specifically for hardware well beyond what regular Pro is built to scale to: up to 4 physical CPUs and 6TB of RAM (versus Pro's much lower ceiling), support for the ReFS filesystem (built for resilience against data corruption on very large volumes), and persistent, non-volatile write-back caching for Storage Spaces to speed up disk-intensive workloads. It targets workstation-class machines running CAD, video production, scientific computing, or database work on genuinely server-grade hardware in a desktop form factor, not typical office or home PCs.
