Windows Server 2022 introduced secured-core server support (hardware-backed protection against firmware-level attacks, extending the secured-core concept from Windows 11 client PCs to servers), TLS 1.3 by default, and deeper Azure Arc integration for managing on-premises servers alongside Azure resources from one control plane. It remains extremely widely deployed in production data centers, with mainstream support running to October 2026 and extended (security-only) support out to October 2031, giving organizations still on it a long runway before Server 2025 migration becomes urgent.
