Compare letters across Indian writing systems in aksharam to identify how a familiar script represents corresponding letters in another language. It is an educational reference app for people who already know the script of an Indian language and want to study a different one.

Tap a letter to see its equivalent in another supported language, or long-press it for more detailed information about that character. Visual comparisons group vowels, consonants, and joint letters, making the relationships between these forms easier to examine. The app also shows how consonants combine with vowels and how consonants combine with other consonants.

A transliteration feature converts text into a script the reader can understand. Practice mode tests script recognition by asking users to type the corresponding letters in a language they already know, which suits self-study and classroom exercises. Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam are currently supported, while the interface and its controls are in English.

aksharam runs on Android and is released as open-source software. It is best suited to learners, teachers, and language enthusiasts comparing these scripts, checking individual characters, or practicing recognition through typed answers.
