British Council EnglishScore3.11.7

Assess your English on an Android phone and receive an instant result indicating your level with British Council EnglishScore. Its core assessment covers grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening for employment-related evaluation. Separate Speaking and Writing tests examine pronunciation, fluency, communication, text organisation and performance in workplace scenarios.

Practice tests are available at no cost, while a paid version adds further features. The app can suggest courses or preparation for IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC. Job seekers can purchase a British Council Professional Certificate to present their English level to employers, and employers worldwide accept these certificates.

Testing uses smartphone face monitoring, so you must remain alone in a quiet place with your entire face visible during the assessment. Published by British Council EnglishScore, it is an Android Education app distributed as freeware. EnglishScore may share photos and videos with third parties.

It may collect personal information, photos and videos, together with four other types of data; information is encrypted in transit, and you can request its deletion. Version 3.11.7 fixes a WebView security vulnerability that could enable cross-app scripting. It also clarifies the no-refund policy message shown after buying a certificate and adds guidance about proctoring rules to the popup displayed after a successful room scan.

Free to use — a paid version with additional features is also available.
