Kanji draw2.1

Draw one or more kanji on an Android touchscreen, and Kanji draw analyzes the handwriting to offer a list of possible character matches. It helps Japanese-language students and anyone working with kanji enter characters that are difficult to type directly.

Choose the intended character from the recognition results, then continue drawing more characters in the same session. When the text is complete, copy it to the Android clipboard and paste it into a dictionary or another application for reference or further use. Kanji draw is open-source Education software for Android, delivered as a Universal build.

Recognition is most reliable when each character follows its customary or official shape, including a reasonably accurate stroke order. Arbitrary strokes that merely imitate a kanji may produce poor matches, so some familiarity with kanji structure makes the tool more effective. The project is a fork of an earlier Kanji draw application that is no longer maintained, and its stroke information comes from the KanjiVG dataset; two included icons originate from the Android SDK and retain their respective licenses.

Version 2.1 fixes the main drawing area so its width scales correctly across devices. It also makes the Return button perform Go rather than Next, and removes internet-access permission and telemetry features because they are inappropriate for a keyboard-oriented input tool.
