ActivityWatch0.14.1

ActivityWatch automatically records how you spend time on your devices, then presents that activity for review in a browser-based dashboard. It helps users replace guesswork about productivity, screen habits, and work hours with a record of actual behavior. By default, it tracks the active application and window title, while additional watchers can collect more activity data.

Usage can be organized into categories, giving you an overview of time spent on projects, apps, games, videos, and music. Chrome and Firefox extensions record the active browser tab, and editor watchers measure time spent writing code. ActivityWatch can also synchronize activity between devices, although synchronization is still being developed.

It suits people tracking projects, studying screen-time habits, measuring work-life balance, spotting behavioral trends, keeping a digital life log, or exploring quantified-self data. Researchers can use it to examine attention, productivity, and behavior, while the project also supports recording who creates the things people use to encourage those creators, an idea associated with the Thankful app.

On macOS, the 0.13.2 release supports Intel and Apple Silicon, and the software also runs on Windows, Linux, and Android. ActivityWatch is freeware and open-source, built by volunteers, and browser tracking requires its Chrome or Firefox extensions while code tracking uses editor watchers.
