Aerial (Beta)4.1.10

Turn a display into an Apple TV-style Aerial screensaver or live desktop wallpaper, showing high-fidelity footage of cities, deserts, oceans, and the International Space Station. Aerial expands beyond the built-in macOS selection with personal videos, live feeds, overlays, multi-display layouts, and controls for choosing what plays on each monitor.

The complete Apple aerial library is available at native quality, including the 4K 240fps footage introduced with macOS 26, while .mov and .mp4 files can be added to the rotation from a single folder. Personal clips can be titled, tagged, hidden, or organized into playlists, and RTSP cameras, HLS feeds, and YouTube live URLs can play directly without caching. Drag-and-drop controls place clocks, weather, location captions, and other overlays into seven screen zones, with a live preview and global hotkeys for the wallpaper.

Aerial includes a curated in-app catalog of community video expansions, including packs from Joshua Michaels and Hal Bergman, without requiring JSON editing. Playlists can be shared across devices, and smart pauses respond to thermal pressure, Low Power Mode, camera use, or a desktop filled with windows while reducing CPU use and improving startup time.

The current 4.1.2 freeware release is open source, reports no telemetry, and accepts optional support. It requires macOS 26 Tahoe or later on Intel or Apple Silicon; the project also describes its broader build target as macOS 15+, and carries a beta designation.
