f.lux42.2

f.lux changes your Mac’s screen colour temperature so the display appears cooler in daylight and warmer after sunset. It automatically shifts the screen’s tone as the day progresses, reducing the stark blue cast that can make evening computer use feel out of place. The result is a display that better matches the lighting around you when working, browsing, or reading at night.

You can set the location and schedule f.lux uses to time its changes, then adjust the preferred colour balance for daytime and nighttime viewing. Its controls let you pause the colour adjustment when accurate screen colours matter, such as during photo work, design tasks, or other colour-sensitive activities. The software is therefore useful for people who spend long periods at a computer, especially those using a screen late in the evening or in rooms with subdued lighting.

f.lux runs on MacOS as a System Tools utility and supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. The current version is 42.2, and the software is offered under a freeware license. It is intended for individual desktop use rather than as a display-calibration replacement, since its main job is to alter the screen’s perceived warmth according to time and viewing conditions.
