Agent TARS

Agent TARS lets Mac users direct a multimodal AI agent to work with graphical interfaces, using visual understanding to carry out computer-based tasks. It addresses workflows that are difficult to express as text alone by combining GUI interaction with vision-based reasoning. The agent can work across a terminal, computer, browser, and product interface, bringing AI assistance into the places where tasks actually happen.

Its main components are a command-line interface and a Web UI, with the Web UI supporting interactive, headful use as well as headless execution on a server. Agent TARS connects multimodal large language models with real-world MCP tools, allowing an agent to combine visual actions with external operations. The CLI has added streaming for multiple tools, including shell commands and multi-file structured output, runtime settings with timing statistics for tool calls and deep-thinking steps, and an Event Stream Viewer for tracing data flow and debugging. These capabilities suit Mac users handling GUI automation, visual workflows, and tasks that span several applications rather than using a general download utility.

Agent TARS is productivity software for people who want AI-assisted interaction with graphical software, whether they work interactively through the Web UI or automate execution through the CLI. Version 1.0.0-alpha.10 runs on macOS with Intel and Apple Silicon support, and it is freeware.
