AlexCalc

AlexCalc is an open-source scientific calculator for Android in the Time & Calculators category. It supports everyday scientific calculations as well as equations involving complex numbers, stored variables, and measurement units. It is suited to users who need more than basic arithmetic and want their equations to remain readable while they work.

The calculator displays equations in formatted LaTeX, which can make fractions, powers, and grouped expressions easier to inspect. It can also generate LaTeX code from an equation. Complex numbers can be entered in rectangular form, such as 3 + 4i, or in polar form, such as 1 angle 90. Variables can be stored and reused in later expressions, allowing a value such as x to be used in another equation.

AlexCalc supports units within equations and can perform conversions, including expressions that combine different units. Its scientific functions include sine, cosine, tangent, their inverse functions, base-10 and natural logarithms, square roots, the constants e and pi, and scientific notation. Input can be entered with calculator buttons, typed directly, or pasted, while button-based input is also converted into plaintext for copying.

Pressing enter simplifies the displayed equation and removes redundant brackets from the formatted result. Previous inputs can be reached and edited with the up and down buttons, and previous inputs, variables, and recently used units are preserved when the app is closed. Light and dark themes are available.
