About
Amethyst lets listeners play music through a node-based audio-routing system, arranging how sound moves instead of accepting one fixed playback path. This configurable structure gives users more control over audio organization and playback inside the player.
Geoxor built the project in TypeScript to explore how far the language can support advanced audio software, with features associated with professional digital audio workstations and digital audio environments. Its routing model and customization tools suit both audio-focused users and listeners who want more deliberate control than a fixed player layout provides.
Geoxor describes Amethyst as cross-platform, with the current Windows release at version 2.1.8; it is freeware in the Music & Audio category. The project is particularly relevant to people experimenting with TypeScript audio development, configuring personal listening setups, or studying how node-based routing can be applied to a music player.
For development, nvm is suggested to allow multiple Node.js versions, recommended extensions should be used, and Linux requires libvips.
