Android Studio Preview (Canary)2026.2.2.1

Android Studio Preview (Canary) gives Mac developers an environment for building Android applications with Android development tools gathered in one workspace. It lets them work through an early Android Studio environment and examine how it supports their application-development tasks before relying on a later release. The preview is aimed at people who develop Android software on Apple computers and want to evaluate an upcoming form of the development environment.

Users can use this Canary build to explore Android Studio while creating or working on Android applications, making it suitable for testing development workflows and assessing preview behavior. The Canary designation separates this early build from other Android Studio versions, so it serves as an evaluation edition rather than a separate commercial product. Developers and teams can use it when they want to investigate the preview environment before moving their regular work to a later Android Studio release.

This release runs on MacOS and targets Apple Silicon computers using the arm64 architecture. The current version is 2026.2.2.2,rabbit2-canary2. It is offered under a freeware license, allowing users to evaluate the preview without a purchase requirement. Because it is an early build, it is best suited to experimentation and assessment by Android developers rather than reliance on it as a later, established release.
