About
Aria2 Next lets Windows x64 users manage HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, Metalink, BitTorrent, and ED2K transfers through an aria2-compatible engine. It can be controlled from the command line or through RPC callers, while retaining aria2’s options, configuration files, session handling, JSON-RPC, and libaria2 interfaces. This makes it suitable for scripted transfer queues, desktop clients, and applications that embed the engine rather than implementing transfer logic themselves.
HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, and Metalink transfers use libcurl 8.21 with nghttp2, while BitTorrent uses libtorrent-rasterbar 2.1; FTP and the former custom stream protocol stacks have been removed. Automatic stream filenames decode a URL basename once, whereas explicit --out paths and metadata-defined paths remain literal and request URLs are left unchanged. Parallel HTTP work uses bounded workers across available address families, preserves each worker’s transport choice, and retries only unfinished ranges while adapting concurrency to server overload and slow responses.
Version 2.7.0 corrects resumed and multi-connection transfers when servers reject ETag-based range requests, using valid strong validators or modification dates instead. It adds a bounded complete-download fallback for servers that ignore byte ranges, protects existing partial files unless allow-overwrite permits restarting, and preserves missing data from short partial responses. Paused HTTP and SFTP tasks now restore saved progress before network activity resumes, with fixes also covering empty HTTP files, libcurl completion messages, and shutdown ordering.
AnInsomniacy maintains the project as an open-source aria2 fork with a modernized build framework and extensive bug fixes, including initial ED2K support. The engine is embedded in Motrix Next and Rayburst, and its 2.7.0 release targets Linux, macOS, Windows, and Android while this edition uses x64 Windows. What's new in v2.7.0
Summary
Aria2 Next 2.7.0 improves HTTP/HTTPS range downloads, interrupted transfers, and paused stream recovery. It includes changes since the previous published release, v2.6.8. CLI and RPC callers can use the improvements without new configuration. Release targets remain Linux, macOS, Windows, and Android.
Fixed
• Fixed multi-connection and resumed downloads failing on servers that reject ETag-based If-Range requests (#43). Requests now use If-Match with valid strong ETags, or If-Unmodified-Since with valid modification dates. • Prevented malformed or weak ETags from being sent as strong validators. Explicit resource changes stop the transfer before different file versions can be combined. • Added a bounded complete-download fallback when a server ignores byte ranges. Existing partial files remain protected unless allow-overwrite permits restarting from zero. • Restored saved progress for paused HTTP/SFTP tasks after an engine restart, before network transfer resumes. • Preserved the missing suffix of short partial responses and correctly handled empty HTTP files. • Corrected libcurl completion-message handling and shutdown ordering while native socket callbacks remain active.
Changed
• Delegated connection setup and low-speed timeouts to libcurl. Slow tail ranges are reassigned only when the remaining work justifies another request. • Refined concurrency reduction and staggered retries for HTTP 403, 429, and 503 responses, while respecting server retry delays. • Extended trace diagnostics with request queue time, connection reuse, and negotiated HTTP version. • Expanded local HTTP transfer validation for conditional requests, range fallback, file-version changes, and paused restart. Validation uses local fixtures and checks completed file hashes.
