Astro Editor1.0.17

Astro Editor turns local Markdown and MDX files in Astro Content Collections into a focused writing workspace rather than a coding environment. It reads the project’s content.config.ts, Astro configuration, and Zod schemas to understand each collection and expose only the fields relevant to editing its content.

Frontmatter becomes schema-aware forms with text fields, date pickers, enum menus, tag arrays, boolean switches, and nested objects. Image fields show previews, while reference() fields provide dropdowns populated from the referenced collection, and every schema field appears even when it is not yet present in the file. Components such as <Aside> can be inserted from the keyboard while working in MDX content.

The editor is intended for writers producing Astro content, especially when a code editor would distract from prose. Typography inspired by iA Writer, Focus mode, and Typewriter mode dim surrounding material and keep the active sentence centered; users can also paste a URL over selected text to create a link, use keyboard shortcuts throughout, hold Option while hovering an image path to preview it, or Command-click a URL to open it.

Astro Editor runs natively on MacOS with Intel and Apple Silicon support and is freeware; Linux support is in beta, with .deb and .rpm packages available. Version 1.0.17 is the current release.
