About
AudioMoth Live App turns sound from a USB microphone into a live visual display, showing a scrolling waveform alongside a spectrogram as audio arrives. Built with Electron, it provides a direct way to inspect high-sample-rate audio while it is being captured. Published by OpenAcousticDevices, the Windows software is freeware in the Music & Audio category and is currently at version 1.1.4.
It can make continuous recordings from the connected microphone for later analysis or preservation. Users can also monitor the input to observe or listen to incoming sound as it happens. A heterodyne bat detector processes the live signal for bat-focused acoustic work, making the app useful for field observation and related research.
The program accepts audio from any USB microphone, but it is specifically designed around the AudioMoth USB Microphone firmware. That firmware enables every existing AudioMoth hardware version to operate as a configurable USB microphone, so AudioMoth owners can connect their devices to Windows for live displays, recording, monitoring, or bat detection.
The package updates itself automatically; if an update is delayed by more than a day or two, the delay should be reported to the maintainers.
