AutoDMG converts a system installer into a deployable system image, giving administrators a prepared basis for repeating an operating-system setup across managed computers. It solves the task of turning a clean installer into an image that can be applied during fleet deployment instead of preparing each machine individually. The workflow centers on selecting the installer as the source and letting AutoDMG build the resulting image for later deployment.

It runs on macOS and accepts OS X installers from version 10.10 onward. The finished image is designed to work with Imagr, DeployStudio, LANrev, Jamf Pro, and other imaging systems built around asr. An IT team can therefore create the image in AutoDMG and use its existing deployment infrastructure to apply it across managed systems.

AutoDMG suits administrators responsible for groups of Macs, including standardized workstation fleets, lab computers, staged rollouts, and repeatable rebuilds. Its focused operation is useful when consistency matters more than configuring each computer manually.

Listed in System Tools, current version 1.9 is freeware and supports both Intel and Apple Silicon architecture. Its distinction from general-purpose system utilities is its specific role in producing deployable images from supported installers for asr-based deployment workflows.
