AutoText

AutoText is an open-source text expansion application for Windows. It helps reduce repeated typing by replacing short abbreviations with longer text snippets, phrases, or sentences. It is intended for people who frequently enter the same wording in different Windows programs.

Users can assign an abbreviation, also called an autotext entry, to the text they want to reuse. When the abbreviation is typed, AutoText automatically enters the associated text. This can make commonly used wording available without typing it in full each time.

AutoText also supports keyboard key presses, holds, and toggles through macros. This extends its automation beyond inserted text while keeping the same abbreviation-based approach.
