Basecamp5.2.1

Basecamp brings tasks, discussions, decisions, files, deadlines, and project communication into one organized workspace, giving remote work a shared place to happen. Each project can hold the work and conversations its participants need, instead of scattering them across separate apps, browser tabs, email, and chat. Teams can manage tasks, share files, schedule events, discuss plans, and keep expectations visible as work progresses.

It supports client collaboration as well as company-wide communication, so a business can coordinate projects internally while keeping customers involved where appropriate. Its defining approach is deliberately simple project management: capable enough for everyday delivery, but designed to avoid the complexity that causes systems to go unused. Developer-facing API, CLI, and Skills extend Basecamp for integrations and AI-agent workflows. Basecamp 5 is presented as a major upgrade that builds on the product’s long-running development.

The current MacOS release is version 5.2.2 and requires macOS 12 Monterey or later, with support for both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Basecamp is freeware. It suits remote teams, client-service work, companies coordinating across departments, and non-profits, with users ranging from product developers and publishers to educators, event planners, architects, and software designers.
