Pressing Command-Tab with BetterCmdTab presents a fast, native switcher that lets you choose individual windows instead of stopping at an app icon. It addresses the built-in macOS app switcher’s limitation with live previews of every window currently on screen. Users can choose a grid, list, or preview layout, then use fuzzy search to find and launch anything.

Window cycling keeps navigation moving through open windows, while badges and playing-audio indicators reveal useful status at a glance. The switcher covers windows across every Space and display, and it can tile windows or move them as part of the switching workflow. Because it treats windows—not just apps—as targets, it suits people managing many documents, browser windows, or other simultaneous workspaces.

All settings are stored in a plain JSON file that can be compared, versioned, and kept in dotfiles. Saving that file applies changes without a restart, while changing a setting in the app writes the new value back to the file. Underlined values in the settings view can be clicked for direct editing.
