bibref

Use bibref to discover internal references in the Bible and trace connections between passages during study. It addresses the practical difficulty of recognizing where one passage points to another when those relationships are not immediately apparent. Its focused purpose gives readers a dedicated way to investigate cross-references instead of treating biblical study as a collection of unrelated passages.

Bibref suits students, teachers, clergy, researchers, and individual Bible readers who compare passages for coursework, lesson preparation, or personal study. A typical session begins with a passage of interest and follows the internal references leading into related parts of scripture. This approach can support close reading, thematic comparison, and preparation of study materials. It is especially useful when a reader wants to examine recurring ideas or connected narratives through references contained within the Bible itself.

Published by Kovács Zoltán, bibref is open-source software in the Education category for Linux. It requires Linux with snapd and supports the x86_64 (amd64) architecture. The current version is 2026-10-19, and its distinction is the direct concentration on discovering the Bible’s own internal references rather than combining that task with broader study functions.
