Bike Radar overlays live rear-radar information on the map or navigation app already running on your Android phone. A slim strip along the screen edge shows each approaching vehicle’s distance, closing speed, and position to either side, while tiered beeps become more urgent as the nearest vehicle closes in. A separate warning tone signals a likely imminent impact, including when you are moving slowly toward a junction with a fast vehicle behind, and an all-clear chime sounds when the road behind is empty.

After a ride, a notification summarizes overtakes, close passes, total distance, and the tightest pass. It can switch the front camera or light to an automatic mode based on local sunset, using one coarse location reading per ride, read Bosch Smart System eBike telemetry, and issue walk-away or forgotten-lock reminders. Riders can use it during navigation, commuting, training, or everyday road cycling, with English and Spanish interfaces.

Everything operates on the phone without an account, cloud service, or analytics; optional Home Assistant publishing sends batteries, close passes, and ride summaries only to your own server. With permission on a screen that names the requesting app, Bike Radar can share the radar feed with another phone app and, if separately allowed, let that app control the tail light or hide the overlay. An optional on-device capture log assists diagnostics, remains off by default, and is never uploaded.

Bike Radar runs on Android 12 or newer and requires a supported rear radar paired over Bluetooth once in system Settings; compatibility is model-specific because bike radars lack a standard Bluetooth profile, and only a short set of units is supported. Distance-only radar provides approach beeps, the all-clear, and distance-coloured overlay, while closing-speed and lateral-position data enable per-vehicle readouts, urgent warnings, and close-pass counts. Radar, camera, and eBike functions continue independently when another integration is unavailable, but the app remains a riding aid that supplements attention and mirrors rather than replacing them; it is open-source under GPL-3.0-or-later and is independent of radar and eBike manufacturers.
