It retrieves current market data directly from supported exchanges over Wi-Fi or mobile data when mobile-data use is permitted. A Price Hit alarm activates when an asset crosses an upper or lower price limit. A Price Change alarm instead reacts to a movement greater than a chosen currency amount or percentage within a defined period, such as 15 minutes. Boilr uses a rolling comparison for these alarms, periodically fetching prices and comparing the latest value with the value from one time frame earlier.

The app covers more than 90 exchanges and the trading pairs available through libdynticker. Searchable exchange lists, pairs, and alarms help locate markets, while the alarms appear in a ticker-style list that can be reordered and edited directly. Triggered alarms keep sounding and showing their status until switched off, or they can be set to snooze automatically when the price moves back.
